Wrinkle Treatments Singapore

Wrinkles are among the more common cosmetic concerns that we receive from our patients.

At M-Aesthetic Clinic, we offer a range of options for alleviating wrinkles, depending on their cause and our patients’ specific goals and concerns.

Types of Wrinkles

Dynamic Wrinkles

Dynamic wrinkles come from moving specific muscles, like those that let us smile or scowl. When these muscles are relaxed, the dynamic wrinkles do not show.

These wrinkles are often treated with wrinkle injections that suppress muscular movement.

Static Wrinkles

Static wrinkles are present even when muscles are at rest. They are often caused by reduced skin elasticity, collagen loss, and damage from regular sun exposure.

Common treatments used to minimise them are moisturising creams, dermal fillers, and procedures that stimulate new collagen production.

Forehead Wrinkles

Forehead wrinkles are often caused by repeated use of the brow or frontalis muscle in normal facial expressions. Over time, these wrinkles may become visible even when the face is at rest.

Possible treatment options include:

  • Wrinkle injections
  • Topical retinoids

Frown Lines

These are vertical lines that appear between the eyebrows, often due to repeated squinting or frowning. Like forehead wrinkles, they may be visible even when the face is at rest.

Possible treatment options include:

  • Wrinkle injections
  • Skin resurfacing

Crow’s Feet

These are fine lines that radiate from the outer corners of the eyes. They often come from years of squinting or even smiling.

Possible treatment options include:

  • Wrinkle injections
  • Eye creams
  • Laser therapy

Laugh Lines (Nasolabial Folds)

These lines run from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth and are often caused by the natural loss of skin structure and drooping of facial fat as we age.

Possible treatment options include:

  • Wrinkle injections
  • Collagen-stimulating treatments

Marionette Lines

These are vertical lines that start from the corners of the mouth and go down toward the chin. They often come from age-related volume loss.

Possible treatment options include:

  • Fillers
  • Skin-tightening procedures

Under Eye Wrinkles

These are fine lines under the eye that are often caused by constant blinking, cumulative sun damage, and natural ageing of the skin.

Possible treatment options include:

  • Dermal fillers
  • Radiofrequency therapies.

Neck Lines

These lines form around the neck, often from the eventual loss of skin elasticity as we age and the consequent droop of the skin. Loss of volume in the area may also worsen these wrinkles.

Possible treatment options include:

  • Dermal fillers
  • Skin boosters
  • HIFU

Types of Wrinkle Treatments

Wrinkle Injections

Wrinkle injections aim chiefly to reduce the visibility of wrinkles and lines on the face. A local anaesthetic (numbing cream) is often applied to the area before the targeted injection itself.

Most of these injections work by temporarily relaxing specific facial muscles. This prevents those muscles from worsening wrinkles that come from repeated facial expressions, such as forehead wrinkles.

Fillers

Dermal fillers aim to restore volume, which can smooth wrinkles and improve facial shape. They often use hyaluronic acid, which is a substance naturally found in the body and metabolised by it over time.

During the treatment, the filler is injected via fine needles into targeted areas to achieve the desired effect. Changes are often visible immediately after, with minimal to no downtime for the patient.

HA Skin Booster

HA skin boosters consist of 100% pure hyaluronic acid. This is injected into the skin with the aim of hydrating, tightening, and stimulating fresh collagen production in the area. It is often used with the goal of achieving a rejuvenated look.

Like dermal fillers, this has barely any downtime after the procedure. It may also be combined with other treatments.

PN Skin Booster

This involves injecting polynucleotides into the skin to stimulate rejuvenation at the cellular level. The polynucleotides encourage tissue regeneration, which can help smooth out fine lines and wrinkles while restoring skin firmness.

The treatment is performed through controlled and targeted injections into the skin. Numbing cream may be used to reduce the patient’s discomfort during the procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions about Wrinkle Treatments

The duration depends on the treatment and individual circumstances. In general, anti-wrinkle injections can last for 3 to 6 months, for example, while laser resurfacing results may last for years.

Most wrinkle treatments involve only minimal discomfort. Most procedures also allow the use of numbing creams or local anaesthetics.

The downtime for wrinkle treatments varies by therapy or procedure. Injections often have little to no downtime, while lasers may require a few days.

It depends on which wrinkle treatment you get, but you can usually combine wrinkle treatments with other procedures.

Some of the most common causes of fast or early wrinkle formation are sun exposure, smoking, chronic stress, and repeated facial expressions.

Some of the most effective ways to slow the appearance of wrinkles are to apply sun protection, manage habits that may cause stress to the body and stay hydrated.
